Cosmetic tattoo treatments are for anyone looking to simplify their routine, or enhance their natural features in a way that feels effortless.
To ensure your safety and the best possible results, please note:
Our priority is your comfort, safety, and satisfaction, every step of the way.
At Sculpted, experience is everything.
Carla Ricciardone, founder of Sculpted Studios, has over 12 years of experience specializing in cosmetic tattooing, advanced color theory, and corrective procedures. Every treatment is performed personally by Carla, ensuring the highest level of consistency, expertise, and attention to detail.
Beyond working with clients, Carla is a respected international educator who teaches and presents to artists around the world. She has collaborated with leading manufacturers in the permanent makeup industry on the development of pigments, tools, and educational programs, bringing her sought-after expertise to the creation of innovative products used by artists worldwide.
Experience matters because cosmetic tattooing is not a regulated industry. While artists are required to hold a tattoo license, that license only confirms compliance with basic health and safety standards. It does not measure skill, artistry, technical ability, or understanding of color, anatomy, and healing.
Unfortunately, anyone with a tattoo machine and a license can legally offer cosmetic tattoo services, regardless of their level of training or experience. Lower-priced services often reflect a lack of experience, which can lead to unpredictable results and, in some cases, costly corrections.
We encourage you to do your research. On our website and Instagram @sculptedstudios, you will find years of healed results, educational content, and real client outcomes that reflect our commitment to natural, lasting results.
This is your face. Trust it to experience, expertise, and proven artistry.
Yes. Sculpted Studios and our artists are fully licensed and insured in every state we operate.
Artist’s hold a valid Body Art Tattoo License through the local Department of Health, ensuring full compliance with sanitation, sterilization, and facility safety standards. We also carry professional liability insurance.
It’s important to understand that licensing does not measure skill or artistic ability, it only confirms that an artist meets the state’s basic health and safety requirements.
At Sculpted, we go far beyond that. We continually complete extensive continuing education and advanced training, to continue to improve mastery over color theory, technique, and healing science as the industry is ever evolving, to ensure every client receives safe, precise, and beautiful results.

Appointment times vary by client but generally range from 1-3 hours.
Every client is unique, and we take the time to understand your goals, preferences, lifestyle, and natural features. Before beginning any treatment, we will have a detailed discussion to ensure your treatment plan is tailored specifically to you.
In general, lip tattooing styles are influenced by your natural lip color and starting point.
Lip Blush is typically best suited for clients with naturally lighter-toned lips. Clients with darker or multi-tonal lips can still benefit from the soft, sheer coverage of a blush style, but some of the natural character and variation of the lips will remain visible. Think of it as a tinted lip oil without the shine.
Bold Lipstick Effect treatments provide the highest level of color saturation and coverage and are generally best suited for clients with naturally lighter-toned lips.
Ombre Lips are typically best suited for clients with good natural or enhanced volume, minimal surface texture, and lips that are naturally lighter or only softly darker in tone. Clients with significant darkness, pronounced texture, scarring, or sun damage may not be ideal candidates for this style.
Lip Neutralization/Brightening is often the best option for clients with naturally darker, cooler, or multi-tonal lips. These treatments are designed to create a more even, balanced foundation while respecting your natural undertones. Depending on your goals, neutralization can be performed on the entire lip, focused on specific areas such as the bottom lip, or combined with a blush style to preserve and enhance the lip’s natural ombre effect.
That said, there is always room for customization, and the best approach for your individual goals can be discussed during your appointment.
We encourage clients to bring photos of their favorite everyday lip colors, makeup looks, and healed lip tattoo results for inspiration. These references help us better understand your preferences and create a result that feels authentically you. The style chosen at booking can be changed at any time during the appointment.
You will receive detailed pre-care instructions in your appointment confirmation email.
Preparation includes keeping the lips well hydrated, gently exfoliating as directed, and avoiding alcohol and recreational substances for several days prior to your appointment to ensure the tissue is in its best possible condition.
If you carry the cold sore virus, taking antiviral medication as prescribed by your physician is mandatory. If you do not have a physician, your confirmation email will contain a link to schedule a telehealth consultation with our affiliated physician for evaluation and prescription, if appropriate.
While pre-care may seem simple, it plays an important role in your treatment. Proper preparation can improve your comfort during the procedure, allow the lips to respond more predictably, and contribute to better healed results. Simply put, the better the canvas, the better the outcome.
If you have ever had a cold sore or know that you carry the virus that causes cold sores, you will need to take prescribed oral antiviral medication starting the morning of my appointment. Topical antiviral medications may not be used as a substitute.
Because the virus that causes cold sores is extremely common and many carriers have never experienced an outbreak, we strongly recommend that all lip tattoo clients take antiviral medication as a precaution, even if they have never had a cold sore.
If needed, my appointment confirmation email contains a link to schedule a telehealth consultation for antiviral medication. Additional fees apply.
Lip tattooing is often an incredible complement to existing lip filler. While filler adds volume, it can also stretch the lip tissue, which may reduce the appearance of natural color and definition. Lip tattooing can help restore that definition, enhance color, and create a more balanced overall appearance.
In fact, many clients who initially considered getting filler find that lip tattooing alone provides the enhancement they were looking for.
If you receive lip filler, you must allow a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks between injections and permanent makeup treatments to allow for proper healing and stabilization. Likewise, if you plan to receive filler after lip tattooing, we recommend waiting the same 4 to 6 weeks to ensure optimal healing and results.
If your filler is migrated, lumpy, uneven, or creating visible distortion of the natural lip shape, we generally recommend dissolving the filler and allowing the lips to settle before proceeding with permanent makeup. Creating beautiful results starts with a stable foundation, and addressing these concerns first will typically lead to a more predictable and aesthetically pleasing long-term outcome.
A numbing agent is applied to minimize discomfort, and most clients report only mild scratching or tingling when getting this service with or without numbing. Experience, we have a lot of that, and proper adherence to pre care provided has a big impact on client comfort.Â
Permanent makeup can be used to subtly refine the natural border of the lips and improve the appearance of symmetry. However, we do not tattoo beyond the natural lip tissue onto the surrounding skin.
The reason is simple: lip tissue and skin tissue heal very differently. While tattoos placed outside the lip border may appear attractive in fresh photos, the healed and long-term results are often unpredictable, unnatural-looking, and frequently require removal or corrective work.
Yes, we have seen the images online promoting these techniques. We have also seen the healed reality firsthand through countless correction and removal appointments over the years.
If you love the look of a defined lip liner, we typically recommend an Ombre Lip or Liner & Lip Combo approach instead. These styles create the appearance of enhanced definition and shape while respecting the natural anatomy of the lips and maintaining a more beautiful long-term result.
A thorough color analysis is done at the time of your appointment to assess your natural undertones.
The color is custom created, no cookie cutter options here, to work with your color assessment and preferences to complement your natural features.
We encourage clients to bring their favorite everyday lip go to’s for inspo.
Absolutely! Our treatments are designed to enhance your natural features, creating results that look polished, balanced, and authentically you.
For examples of our healed work, we encourage you to browse the gallery available on our website. We exclusively showcase healed results here because fresh tattoo photos are not an indication of the final outcome, regardless of the artist. Fresh work simply demonstrates the process, while healed work reflects the true result. Results vary from client to client based on natural lip color, texture, volume and goal. Â

We believe healed work tells the real story, and we encourage every client to evaluate artists based on their healed results and collective experience.
You are a living canvas, and many factors can influence how your lips heal and retain pigment. Adherence to pre- and post-care instructions, body chemistry, lifestyle, natural starting point, lip texture, volume, treatment style, and your desired outcome all play a role in determining how many sessions may be needed.
On average, most clients require two treatments within a four-month period to achieve their desired result. Additional sessions may be needed depending on those factors and your goals, with Lip Neutralization and Brightening treatments often requiring more sessions than other styles.
Once your treatment series is complete, results can last for many years before a maintenance appointment is needed. Longevity varies from person to person and is influenced by factors such as sun exposure, skincare habits, lifestyle, and individual pigment retention.
Our treatments are priced per session, allowing you to book only what you need, when you need it. This approach provides greater flexibility and avoids inflated upfront pricing or penalties associated with strict follow-up timelines. While we generally recommend completing your initial treatment series within a reasonable timeframe, you have the freedom to progress at a pace that works best for your goals, schedule, and budget.
Once completed typically last 2-5 years, depending on your skin type, chosen style, lifestyle and how it has been cared for.
There’s minimal downtime with our treatments, but some temporary swelling is normal and usually fades within a day or so.
Your tattoo will appear more vibrant and bold at first, this is expected! Around day 3–5, light flaking may occur as excess pigment naturally sheds. Don’t worry, the true color will begin to soften and reveal itself beautifully over the next 8–16 weeks.
We’ll provide full aftercare instructions, both written and explained verbally, to make sure you feel confident caring for your treatment as it heals.
You can eat or dink immediately after. You will need to be mindful and eat small bites with a fork and drink with a straw for the first 3-5 days. We recommend you avoid spicy and high citrus foods during that time as well.Â
Yes. You will need to be mindful an avoid getting it on your lips. We also recommend that you avoid whiting toothpaste for the 3-5 days immediately after your treatment. Â
Yes, we use only the highest quality pigments that adhere to the strictest global regulations for cosmetic treatments. If you have any concerns, let us know during your consultation so we can address them.
We have several types of numbing for this reason. We have also done every treatment we offer with out at clients request and they are still completely comfortable.Â
Technically – a tattoo is defined as using a needle to implant pigment into the dermis of the skin – so yes Sculpted Lips is a ‘tattoo’. However our lip blushing technique is highly refined using a proven technique developed over a decade using very specific tools and cosmetic grade ink.Â
Yes , permanent makeup or cosmetic tattoo is the umbrella term for many techniques – including Sculpted Lip Blush.Â
The truth is it’s mostly marketing. Whether its called Aquarelle Lips, Permanent Makeup, cosmetic tattoo, lip blushing or anything in between it is almost always referring to the same thing. Starting point plays a signifigant role is style as does your goal.
At Sculpted- every booked treatment includes a thorough consultation at the time of your treatment.
