HIGH MELANIN LIPS
Higher Melanin Lip Procedures – Important Information
Treating melanin rich lips is a specialized process that requires a highly skilled and experienced artist. This procedure must be performed with advanced techniques to ensure safe and effective results. Not all PMU artists are trained in this delicate work, so choosing an expert is essential.
Because melanin-rich lips are unique, achieving the desired results takes multiple sessions—typically 2-4 treatments spaced 14-18 weeks apart.
Patience is key! Rushing the process can lead to further darkening of the lips or no visible results at all. When performed correctly, this technique can help create a soft, even nude/pink tone while respecting the natural undertones of your lips.
Why Experience Matters
🔹 Working with an experienced artist ensures proper pigment selection, precise application, and safe healing.
🔹 Inexperienced or rushed treatments can cause unwanted discoloration, prolonged healing, or ineffective results.
🔹Lip Brightening is an art and a science, requiring deep knowledge of pigment theory and skin response.
🔸 Please note: While we strive for the best possible outcome, results cannot be guaranteed and require time and multiple sessions. If you’re unsure whether you’re a candidate, please email us clear, well-lit photos of your lips or book a consultation to confirm eligibility.
🚫 Not all lips are suitable for this procedure. Lips that are deeply hyperpigmented, damaged, or scarred may not be good candidates.
COLD SORES
If you are prone to cold sores, the procedure can trigger an outbreak. You must begin an antiviral the day of and follow prescribed instructions to reduce the chances/intensity of a flare up. A cold sore outbreak can alter the healed results of a tattoo. If you have scaring from cold sores over the years please note that scar tissue is more resistant to color application and may require additional sessions as needed.
SCARING IN THE TREATMENT AREA:
While tattooing can be a fantastic way to camouflage hyperpigmentation from scars, it’s important to know that it won’t make the scar disappear completely. Scar tissue is less healthy than regular skin, so it absorbs pigment differently, which might require extra sessions for the best results.
